Why? Coaching is a helpful process which can enable people to set and reach their goals. Sometimes, life’s options seem clearly set out before us – but for some reason, it can be difficult to make a decision. At other times, it can seem as there are no options and we can feel stuck.
Coaching works like windscreen wipers: it can help clear the view so that people can see and reach their destinations and fulfil their potential.
What? Effective coaching starts with clarifying the purpose of coaching and agreeing expectations – mine of the client, and the client’s expectations of me. It is helpful to then identify the client’s desired outcomes and establishing those particular outcomes with which coaching and the coach can most usefully help.
This contracting process is an iterative process and often goals will shift. Effective coaching relationships are built on the development of honesty, respect and transparency of both parties.
How? I work with clients on a one-to-one basis in a comfortable, private environment, meetings usually last about an hour but length and frequency are negotiable.
My aim as a career coach is to be warmly ‘neutral’ and objective, focusing purely upon the client.
How can career coaching make a difference?
What have you taken away from this experience of coaching? “I am now having a much better time in life! With Sue’s coaching I have allowed myself time to ‘be natural’, to make better use of my time, to be happier.”
What would you say about working with Sue?
“I would say that Sue has a fabulous balance between being professionally ‘challenging’ and also professionally, compassionate and understanding.”
